[I had invited my students to contribute to my blog. The only contribution I received is the article written by Luther KISING, a student in the course Literature and Politics: Literature, Politics and Culture in PNG. STEW]
"The Heart of gladness and thanks giving to SANA who diligently put effort to make people a nation."

(Tuesday 2nd March 2021🇵🇬)
With great dignity and respect to share this moment of sorrow and silence to the founding father, leader and the foundation of this sovereign commonwealth nation and the independent state of Papua New Guinea, pioneer Prime Minister Sir (Grand Chief) late Michael Thomas Somare.
It is a national tragedy for us in the moment of sorrow and mourning for our foundating father who passed away on the 26th of February 2021.
I am indeed humbled to acknowledge the sacred supremacy of our living God who mandated Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare to proclaim the emancipation of people who speak more than 800 languages with diverse cultures, different belief systems and ways of living.
Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare was a man of valor, he was a conqueror, he was the sword who conquered and disarmed the chains of disunity, enslavement and illiteracy.
The despaired moments and the darkened days of a people who wasn't a nation, he became the stone of hope, he became the light on the hill.
It was difficult to unite the nations into nation because the Island of New Guinea was not only a land of a tribe, but a land of a thousand tribes.
Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare did not merely fighting for independence but he was combating for untiy, he was the voice whom unites the voices.
The languages were so difficult in those days, but God's grace was upon him which he converted the tongues into a tongue upon whilst we pledged today as
"One Nation, One Country and One People".
May his legacy endures to a hundred generation of this great nation of Christ.
To we the sons of this nation, the father had a dream for this country and we the sons will turn the dream into a vision. The progress of our country has been crippled by the manacles of corruption, mismanagement, misconduct, selfishness, greed, disunity, hatred and more others you can make list of.
Grand Chief's lost is a declared war on us the sons of Papua New Guinea to rise up and combat social issues, corruption, violence, crime and so on.
Our national anthem is a declaration indeed, because in the first line of the verse it sings "O Arise all you Sons of this Land" (it is a unity statement). Therefore, i urge you all the young elites and future leaders of this nation to rise up.
_I Luther KISING and the leaders of the University of Papua New Guinea pass our deepest heart felt and sincere condolences to the wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Lady Veronica Somare and the immediate family._
_May God bless Papua New Guinea.🇵🇬
